In Search of Cookies and Cakes
By SANDY WARREN -- OCEAN CITY - Okay, celebrants, I'm taking a giant leap here and assuming you've already given much thought and effort to your Night in Venice entrée, wardrobe and décor. But have you picked up the cakes and cookies yet?
Take a deep breath. The question isn't meant to panic you. In fact, today's column will assist you in the cake/cookie search. After all, Night in Venice without sweets would be like Christmas without candy canes and Thanksgiving without the pumpkin pie. It just wouldn't be right.
Personally, I think Susan Adair at Crazy Susan's Cookies has the right philosophy: Life's short. Eat Cookies.
One of the best things about being the designated cookie shopper is getting to choose the flavors. So study this list of cookies by the pound carefully before you go over to Crazy Susan's:
- Almond joy
- Butterscotch
- Chocolate Chip
- Double chocolate chip
- Cranberry white chocolate
- Heath Bar crunch
- M&Ms
- Macadamia white chocolate
- Macaroon
- Mint chocolate chip
- Peanut butter
- Reese's Pieces
- Rocky Road
- Snickerdoodle
- Sugar (kick it up a notch by choosing the colorful decorated sugar cookies on lollipop sticks!)
- Walnut chocolate chip
- Oatmeal banana raisin chocolate chip
Take your goodies home in a bag or box or ask for them on a decorated or undecorated party tray. The mini-tray has 16-18 cookies and weighs two pounds. There are small, medium, medium-large and a six-pound large tray with 48-50 morsels. Anybody out there doing a Sesame Street theme and inviting Cookie Monster over?
If you're still in a cookie quandary after reading this far, pop by the store and pick up a brochure or phone Elaine or one of the other staffers who will enthusiastically answer your questions. Everybody who works here is a cookie aficionado.
